Erin Mills Pet Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Assistant/Exam Room Assistant (Full-time)

Erin Mills Pet Hospital is currently seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Exam Room Assistant. This is a full-time position with a well-established, multi-doctor practice located in Mississauga, Ontario.

Responsibilities:
• Assist veterinarians during examinations and treatments.
• Prepare examination rooms by ensuring cleanliness and stocking necessary supplies.
• Greet clients and their pets, escort them to examination rooms, and obtain necessary information.
• Record and maintain accurate and detailed medical histories and observations.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and comfortably during procedures.
• Assist with laboratory procedures, including sample collection and preparation.
• Provide estimates and review pricing with clients.
• Process payments and review invoicing in the exam room.
• Discuss nutrition, paraciticides and insurance options with clients.
• Provide post-operative care and instructions to clients.
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and place orders as needed.
• Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and updating client records.

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle animals with care, patience, and compassion.
• Knowledge of animal behavior and basic medical terminology.
• Knowledge of vaccines, paraciticides and basic veterinary medications.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in computer systems and software. (Avimark)
• Willingness to work some weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Experience:
• Veterinary Assistant: 1 year (preferred)
