West Boulevard Veterinary Clinic is hiring a Veterinary Assistant (Full-time)

Responsibilities and Duties
• Reception duties including answering telephone calls, booking appointments, fielding owners questions and concerns and directing emergent calls appropriately. Creating & maintaining client/patient files. Please note: reception is a large part of this role
• Ensuring basic animal husbandry for patients and boarding animals including providing water, food, walks, grooming etc.
• Cleaning duties including; ensuring that all kennels are cleaned, disinfected and properly maintained and that floors and surfaces are properly cleaned and disinfected.
• Helping to restrain patients so that veterinarians and technicians can perform procedures and treatments effectively, including blood and other sample collection, administration of medication, and radiograph studies.
• Assist our technicians to maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Helping to ensure that all supply orders are placed, unpacked and stored appropriately.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills
• Veterinary Office Assistant Certification or previous reception or veterinary assistant experience is PREFERABLE. You must also be able to demonstrate employment stability, a good attendance record & a solid work ethic.
• Someone who is a devoted team player with exceptional customer service skills, who thrives in a collaborative environment and who takes pride in developing relationships with clients.
• Someone who is willing to learn new skills and can take direction, but also show independence and initiative when required. Some shifts will be after hours so the ability to work autonomously is very important.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with a high level of professionalism, a strong attention to detail, and a desire to learn.
• Physical ability including being able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to multi-task where needed.
• Strong computer and telephone skills
• Must be flexible with work schedule. This role could be Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday but a mix of weekday, evening and weekend (Saturdays) work might be required for a maximum of 40 hours per week total.
• Wages will depend on experience

West Boulevard veterinary Clinic is seeking a motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant to join our close knit team. West Boulevard Vet is a family owned and run clinic in Kerrisdale. We see cats and dogs, as well as having a special interest in pocket pets including; rabbits, hamsters, rats, mice, hedgehogs, guinea pigs and gerbils. We are well equipped with digital and dental x-ray, in house lab equipment and state-of-the art anesthesia monitoring tools, but more importantly we are a family who works as a team to provide compassionate, high quality vet care in a fun, supportive and fast paced environment

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
