About this Job
Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind is seeking a Veterinary Assistant or Kennel Attendant to join our team. These individuals will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of our guide dogs and mobility assistance dogs in training.
Core responsibilities of the successful candidates will be:
• Cleaning of our facilities
• Feeding of our dogs
• Free running of our dogs
• Mental stimulation of our dogs
• Grooming of our dogs
• Dealing with boarding transfers
• Driving to medical appointments
• Documentation of daily notes
• Confidently walk dogs on leash
• Ensuring a safe environment at all times for both kennel attendants and dogs
• Administer medications and treatments as needed
Shifts: Sunday - Wednesday 7:00am-5:00pm with a one hour unpaid lunch break
As we work as a team the successful candidates may be asked at times to cover for other team members who are on vacation or unwell and unable to come in. Due to the nature of caring for dogs the successful incumbent must be prepared to work stat holidays.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in animal care is preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• A valid drivers license is essential
• Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
• VA education/experience is considered an asset
Language:
• English essential
• French an asset
Please note we are not located on a bus route.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $19.08 per hour
