Saanichton Village Veterinary Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Assistant (Full-time)

Saanichton Village Veterinary Hospital is looking to add a new team member! Are you a veterinary assistant seeking employment where you can grow your skills? Would you like to work in a happy environment? We are looking for an outgoing, reliable individual that can perform the following duties;

- Assist veterinarians in providing care for dogs, cats
- Perform basic medical procedures under the supervision of a veterinarian, such as administering medications and sub q injections.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical areas
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples for testing
- Assist with diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-rays or ultrasounds
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures or treatments
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of animals
- Educate pet owners on basic animal care and answer their questions

Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with animals
- Knowledge of basic veterinary procedures and terminology
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing situations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
