Oxford Bovine VPC is hiring a Large Animal Veterinary Assistant (Part-time)

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians and producers in the care and treatment of cattle. You will work in an indoor and outdoor environment, all year round, dehorning and vaccinating calves and ensuring the well-being of our patients. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the overall health and wellness of animals under our care.

Responsibilities
• Dehorning calves on our valued clients farms, as well as keeping up relevant paperwork.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Monitor calves before and during dehorning procedure.
• Maintain accurate proAction records and documentation for each patient.
• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of your work area in clinic and on farm.

Qualifications
• Experience in a dairy or beef farm setting an asset
• Ability to dehorn an asset, but we will train the right candidate.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with farm owners and team members.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately in various situations.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Dependable and self motivated.
• Able to work independently as well as with a team.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 45 kg.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 20 per week
